The Big Question Mark goes to Bonn!
Oxford artist Diana Bell took her public participation project ‘The Big Question Mark’ to Bonn together with poets from Oxford Stanza Two, who connected with poets in Bonn from ‘Dada War Alles Gut’. The Big Question Mark installation was sited in Remiguisplatz and was opened by Lord Mayor Jean Fooks with poetry readings in German & English on the theme of home.
During the week, all members of the public passing the square were invited to take part by writing on a small wooden house their idea of what home means to them. They were then invited to walk or dance down the question mark and contribute a thought about their lives at the end of the question mark. Nearly five hundred people took part and Natty Mark Samuels played African drums in the square during the installation.
The poets produced a bilingual English-German edition of the new poetry they read at the opening, edited by Bill Jenkinson and Eva Wal.
